Clinical Trials & Research
Clinical Research is an integral part of the cutting edge medical therapies delivered by the physicians at Diablo Valley Oncology / Hematology Medical Group. Most clinical trials utilize new drugs, especially the most recent agents, the so-called targeted therapies, to try to improve outcomes in cancer patients. Some trials look at new radiation therapy applications or novel combinations of radiation and medications. At Diablo Valley Oncology / Hematology Medical Group, we are committed to obtaining access to these new treatments for the benefit of our patients. Patients are offered these trials as an option when available, and we are proud of our high quality studies. Because our research corporation, Bay Area Cancer Research Group, is well organized, nimble, and delivers high quality data, the pharmaceutical companies sometimes prefer utilizing our site over universities, such as UCSF and Stanford. In fact, we sometimes get referrals from them to be enrolled in our studies!
Current Clinical Trials
A robust clinical research department is vital for a cancer center to deliver comprehensive cutting edge care. We enroll patients on clinical trials for the gamut of cancers, including breast, lung, colon, pancreas, leukemia and lymphoma, prostate and many others. BACRG enrolls more patients on oncology clinical trials than any other facility in the East Bay, including the hospitals and medical centers. Smaller, less comprehensive physician groups are unable to provide these high complexity treatments outside of a university setting. However, we at Diablo Valley Oncology / Hematology Medical Group are committed to the goal of furthering the fight against cancer both for society and for each and every individual patient.
Our clinical trials specialize in phases I, II, III, IV studies with indications in many disease states. Depending on study timing and availability, we conduct clinical trials in the following areas of cancer research:
- Brain
- Breast
- Colorectal
- CLL
- Gastric/Esophgeal
- Kidney
- Lung
- Lymphomas
- Melanoma
- Myelomoa
- NHL
- Pancreatic
- Prostate
You can learn more about our clinical trials and research by checking out the individual trials below. Please do not hesitate to ask your physician if a clinical trial is available and the right treatment for you.
